The Redemption of the D-40ZOOM
I've been going through all my old photo gear, getting ready to sell it. I have at least three digital cameras, plus two camcorders, that will be departing my possession to pay for my new IS-1. One of them is an Olympus D-40ZOOM, which is a nice little 4MP pocket camera with full-manual controls. I bought it from someone on Ebay many years ago.
The battery compartment holds two AA batteries, and I didn't get any when I bought the camera, so I assumed it would take AA alkalines and Ni-MH rechargables. However, if you use the Ni-MH batteries, it will only work for about five minutes before complaining of lower batteries. This has made it far less useful than it could have been. However, today I found the problem. It's supposed to use an 3V Li-Ion battery. So I forked over another $30 to get the battery and a charger for it, and we'll see how much better it works once it arrives. I may keep it, as I intend to end up with a small pocket camera as well as the IS-1, which is much too big to carry around all the time, or I may sell it and buy a newer camera instead.
I'll also be selling my Nikon Coolpix 995, my Sony DSC-F717, which are fully functional, and two Sony Camcorders, one Hi8 and one Digital8, both with Assorted Problems.

Thank you!
Which ones did you like? Or are there comments on there already?
I'll go look.

Voluntary portraiture is probably the least developed of my photographic skills, but that will be changing soon...
