El Future

As awesome as all this carefree sitting around on my ass has been, it's been hard not to notice that the number in my bank account has recently started to go in only one direction. So far I've:

o Filed for, but not actually claimed, unemployment

o Done some soul searching, but not enough, to determine what I'd like to do next. Right now I'm leaning toward technical and/or self-help training.

o Continued fixing my roomate's car, which is an outstanding obligation/carport space I'd like to get clear

o Assembled a comprehensive spreadsheet detailing my financial reality, including how long I can survive before I need income again in various scenarios

o Read through but not worked through about 1/2 of What Color Is Your Parachute (2005 Edition)

o Built the hoop house to protect my very limited "food supply"

o Gotten a few other food items in the works, including two small loquat trees from a neighbor

o Fixed the body panel on my scooter, the first step to getting it running again

o Done some half-hearted poking around on a few job sites, mostly from bed

o Researched the housing market in case I need to sell my house

o Met with a friend and mentor from work to discuss the possibilities of a career in training

It's definitely time to step things up and start taking finding a new job seriously. Things in my plans are:

1) Work all the way through What Color Is Your Parachute, which will include assembling a few resumes, identifying my transferable skills, and choosing one or two solid ideas about which career I'd like to pursue

2) Starting claiming my unemployment, which will force me to start contacting employment prospects at the rate of at least 5 per week.

3) Networking like a manic hamster on crack in my chosen field

4) Finish fixing the scooter to reduce gas costs

5) Finish minor work on my CR-V to get it ready for inspection, which is overdue

6) Finish the floor in the main part of the house to attract renters/co-op members

7) Move out of the master suite and into the garage to make room for another renter

8) Research local rental market to see what I can get for the master suite

9) Develop a realistic financial plan for the co-op that I can present to current and future renters to see if their on-board, as well as what kind of money I need to be making to survive in that situation.

10) Make Dr's appointments before my insurance goes away

I'm sure I'll think of more soon.

I'm sure you can accomplish the things you want as long as you can maintain the focus and determination you're showing in this post.

Thanks!

I'm sure I can, too, if intention = action.

Intention historically = bedtime.

*laughs* For most people intention does not equal action. You can build those muscle so that it become closer to action.

I think of intention as a commitment toward a direction based on the information I currently have. The better I understand myself[more information], the easier it becomes to find the intentions that I can turn into action.

*nods* I was surprised by the clarity in the post. He seems to have created a solid list of important things to do.

I would love to hear more about this.
