Baking the Deli Rye

After having received my Kitchen-Aid standing mixer today, I decided it was time to try my hand at yeasted bread making. I chose the Deli Rye recipe from The New Best Recipe. I've got the sponge all mixed up and yeasting, and I'll do the rest tomorrow "morning."

Ooh! I want to know about the Kitchen Aid and how you like it and what model you got and whether it is bright red. ::puts request in box::

Because I must live vicariously through others. ;}

It was nice to see you this weekend, by the way. ^_^

Mine's bright red :)

My parents have a glossy black Kitchen Aid whose sole purpose is bribing me to come over and cook for them. :)

I didn't get an Artisan...

...though I could have for about $30-40 more. I got the Classic:

I'm kind of glad I didn't get the Artisan now, because I don't really think I need the extra power, and I've heard that feeding things in through the shield is kind of annoying. I think I prefer the tilting head. Also, the one I have already takes up almost the entire house, so getting an even bigger one would require additions to my home.

That's not a bad solution.

That way *you* don't have to sacrifice your entire kitchen counter for one appliance.

Oooh, delish!!!

I think I may have a mixer fetish. I mean, it wouldn't be the craziest fetish out there, would it?

Thank you for telling me about your mixer. ::gush!::

You're welcome!

If you've seen one working away at a ball of dough, I don't think having sexual feelings would be in any way out-of-place. It has this very tactile, relentless, massage-o-tastic wet-but-firm vibe going on that's pretty hard not to get excited about.

The bread is now in the oven.

Baby.

Not to mention the fact that I believe the Kitchen Aid was originally designed in the 50s, when a lot of effort went into manipulating housewives with sex.

I won't even *talk* about all the experiences the bread is having now. Except that they involve butter, my mouth...

...and salami.

Eeeee! That sounds like a kolache!!

Except the web insists that kolaches never have meat in them, which is contrary to my limited understanding of kolaches, but I'm inclined to believe the internet. And come to think of it, I'm not even sure if salami is what you would put in whatever you call the thing that wouldn't be a kolache once you put meat in it...

Oh, hell. I don't care. It's still sexy. ;}
