Rejection!

So it's in my plans to attend Transformus, the Southeast Regional Burn event. I'm doing multiple regionals this year instead of attending Burning Man, largely because I'm tired of cleaning playa dust off my shit. However, I didn't make the first cut on tickets due to high demand. I'm going to proceed as though I'm going, but it's probably time to research additional ways of becoming aware of when extra tickets become available as people inevitably flake out as the event approaches.

Are you a ranger?

They need rangers bad, so you might be able to get one through those channels.

I basically told them that I might Ranger in the future there, but not the first time I went, since I don't really know the land or many of the people. However, if I had another chance to get in based on the possibility of Rangering, I might do it. I got rejected as a Ranger at Burning Man last year, and of of the (very well respected) Rangers who mentored me will be coming to Flipside...

...where I'll be Rangering. :)

Effie went and rangered, not having known the land or the people. She might have better advice as to what the experience would be like.

Personally, last year that seemed like one of the biggest ways to contribute to the event there, since rangers were so badly needed.

I definitely appreciate the inside heads-up. Thank you for working to help.

I believe that I may be in possession of one extra ticket- something which I will know for certain in the next day or two. If'n you want it.

This kind of sums up my point about the ticketing process. Some people who didn't get tickets are... well, to put it bluntly, whining, about how they have such skills and are such big volunteers and are SOOOO important that the event couldn't possibly happen without them, and all I want to say is, "If you're so damn important, then all you have to do is have ONE person who has an extra ticket agree with you, and BAM! You're in."

Within one day of Scott posting that he didn't have a ticket, you popped up and offered him your extra. I know personally at least one other person who was likely to have an extra and said that he or she was going to give it to Scott. Apparently, he's "important" enough or "connected" enough to be essential. See? The system does favor those who contribute and those who have connections to the community.

Thanks!

Thank you...

...for all the compliments! It's very gratifying to get help so fast!

Being socially connected...

...is more effective than being a big volunteer. I guess even if one volunteers, if that person is still an asshole, their likelihood of getting a ticket goes down.

Wow!

Thanks for the offer! I'm fairly certain I've already gotten one, but I *really* appreciate your willingness to part with one.

Me, too!

Did you have a chance to talk to Troy about a ride and possible pre-visit?
