While working on building a chicken coop, I had an idea.

Chicken Yurt.

Initial thoughts:

1) Cool as shit!
2) A circle provides the maximum floorspace for the minimum wall and roof material.
3) The outside wall could be chicken wire (which predators can reach through to behead your chickens) if the hen-house was in the *middle* of the yurt.

chicken yurt? oh lord...you've just gone too far. I'm not sure about the chickens roosting habits and predators, might want to ask some chicken experts on austexpoultry @ yahoogroups about that. Even a post to the permie listerv would be alot of fun.

I think that submitting the idea to those groups before building it is a good one. I may have a temporary outdoor coop I can use in the meantime shortly, giving me more time to get the yurt right.
