Master Cleanse Day 4 Summary
Jul. 30th, 2009 01:14 amDue to the fact that I spend almost two hours of yesterday driving in 103 degree heat in a car with no air conditioning, which is draining even in the best of health, it was a little hard to differentiate between cleanse-based fatigue and heat stroke. However, overall I felt slightly weaker than Day 3, but otherwise ok.
I also got up unusually early for me, so I had to pace my lemonade intake a bit more strictly, and was almost passing out by early evening, so I took a brief nap. I also had my first "how do you deal with going to a restaurant?" experience while out with my Dad, which was interesting. The menu was this completely irrelevant piece of plastic with words, pictures, and numbers on it. I did discover the "how to I justify my love here?" technique that works at most restaurants. Herbal tea is usually available, and doesn't really violate the diet. I had some mint tea, which may or may not have made me feel a little funny. I had originally had anxieties about restauranting while Cleansing, but actually, it works out well for everyone. No matter who pays, my portion is dirt-cheap, and I'm often too tired to talk a lot or focus for long without concentration, so I'm a better listener. I was also worried that someone might object to me bringing in my lemonade, but a combination of apathy and petty stealth has so far won the day.
Overall I've definitely noticed a pattern of my decision making being not quite as spot on as usual. I make little, stupid mistakes because I'm slightly fatigued and unfocused. Once I'm aware of it, it's usually not a problem. Unless I'm near the table saw. I just made three in the course of re-arranging the sentences in this paragraph. :)
It *has* been nice to be almost completely without the symptoms I often get due to food allergies. I haven't experienced the "my blood is draining out the bottom of my feet" feeling that I've often gotten from food problems. I have an itchy, flaky spot on my body that consistently gets a lot worse when I've eaten something unhappy, and it's been almost completely normal. And other than my nightly salt water purges, I've been almost 100% stomach-upset and flatulence-free!
Finally, I saw The Watchmen for the first time in Dolby Digital Surround, and I have to admit I wasn't calorically prepared for how much it totally kicked my ass. Motherfucker, that was *good* movie.
