- Installed vents into two guest wing doors to improve air circulation and equalize temperature
- Finished scratch and ceiling coat of plaster in guest wing office in anticipation of dildo arrival
- Installed heat lamp and water heater for chicken coop to prevent recurrence of chicken death
- Am correlating financial data from 2009 to create budget for 2010 after surviving for a year without "work"
- Have been asked for a job interview next week for position I couldn't be more qualified for
The guest wing has historically had air circulation problems because there aren't any returns in the rooms, only one in the hallway. We've recorded as much as a 10 degree temperature difference between there and the rest of the house. I purchased a bunch of closeable air ducts covers (brand new and $2.50 each at the Habitat Restore!) and installed them in the hallway and bedroom doors. As soon as I got finished, I could feel cold air flowing back into the house. We can test tomorrow and see how much difference it's made.
The first coat of plaster on walls and ceiling is finished in the soon-to-be-filled-with-dildos guest office. Tomorrow I will finish the second wall coat with the final color, and plastering will be complete for that room. Once the paint is dry, I'll be able to recoup the $10/day I've been sacrificing to my roommate because his second room isn't done. The bathroom and hallway are next, but aren't costing me money.
The chicken coop has a 125 watt heat lamp above the roost, and an aquarium heater in the previously-frozen waterer. I lost a chicken recently, and am not sure why, so I'm doing my best to improve overall conditions to prevent further casualties.
I've finished including all of my 2009 data in my massive spreadsheet, and will be using the info plus my travel and upgrade plans to make a budget for 2010. Just in time to answer some of the "where will the money be coming from?" question, I have a job interview for a high tech position sometime this week. I'm not 100% sure I'll take the job, but the info I get out of the budget will let me know how it fits into my future plans.
