Life in Progress
Feb. 4th, 2010 10:26 pmI haven't been posting much recently.
I just had a great visit with
spottedvasa who came to visit Austin for a week. It was an awesome and connective time, and I'm looking forward to visiting her in her new home of Portland.
I got a new job to re-stock the greenback coffers and update my resume. It will be my first time doing 9-5 in a cube farm in about 4 or 5 years. I'm getting paid hourly this time, though, which is an improvement, as software people routinely get abused on salary, expected to work 50-60 hour weeks during releases with no extra pay or comp time. I'll make enough in six months to survive the rest of the year without income, during which time I'll travel, visiting lovers and friends and getting my web programming career off the ground so I never have to sit in a cubicle again.
I now have three housemates, which has been interesting so far, and seems to be going well. One of them is still moving in after the panic-transfer of everything he owns to everywhere in my place. He's doing a great job of getting things cleaned up quickly.
I'm also doing the Master Cleanse again until Monday, which will have me off of food for 5 days.
It's been a hectic few months, and I'm looking forward to some stability, even if it comes at the price of a little privacy and freedom.
