I'm personally glad to see the Dems gain a majority. I believe that the Republican majority in both houses, combined with a Republican president, means that Bush could basically shove through whatever bullcrap legislation he wanted in the name of the "War On Terror". Oh yes, please take away a few more of my civil rights while telling me you're protecting my freedom. Ass. Now that the Dems have a majority in the House (and maybe the Senate?) maybe the fucking system of Checks and Balances that I learned about in high school can start to work again.
That and if the Republicans had won, I'd have to listen to their supporters crow about how this is a validation that American supports their "War On Terror". You know it would have happened. But when they lose, do they say, "Oh. This means that American doesn't support our War On Terror. We need to re-think." No. At least, not that I've heard.
