It's often difficult...
Dec. 12th, 2007 03:41 am...to figure out exactly which causes and charities are worth contributing to. One I've decided to get behind is the Public Campaign Action Fund, which works to promote the availability of public funding for elections. This provides a far more level playing field for elections by giving the same amount of money to everyone who participates. This allows candidates more time to campaign and make their case to their electorate, and keeps them out of the pockets of special interests. It breaks the link between the powerful lobbies that hamstring our democracy, and it's already been successful in 7 states and 2 municipalities. There is a bill pending in the Senate and another schedule for introduction in the House to affect change at a federal level. If you're sick of seeing America hijacked by Big Money, and want to do something to ensure your voice is heard, this is one of the best causes to support.
