Meet the New Neighbors

This is a picture of some blackish fungus I found under the carpet in trippedbreaker's soon-to-be bedroom. I took the picture by hand-holding my old Nikon 995 over the photo port with a 20x eyepiece plugged in. I was using 800x magnification, plus whatever the camera was adding. Based on what I see here, it seems unlikely to be the kind of health-destroying black mold we hear about in the news so much. However, it may well be a form of black yeast, and if that's the case, its presence in the house might explain my yeast allergy.

A pretty fun second use of the new microscope! Wait until I actually get a decent camera mount.
