Beating an Unrecognizable, Horse-Like Mass

Since having it surrendered by my father after I helped get him a Powerbook laptop, my Dad's old G4 tower has been undergoing an overhaul that, rather than taking the hour it should have taken, has instead taken almost a week. The Simple Task at the root of this Massive Operation was copying the OS from it's older 10 gig drive to a new 80 gig drive. The following efforts to make this happen met with miserable failure...

I'm awake!

...and out of bed at 10 AM!

The Roaches Were Just the Beginning

I was already pretty pissed off that I had to tear down at least half a wall of my shower due to an existing leak and generally shitty original installation. They mounted normal (not even greenboard, which itself isn't good enough for shower stalls) drywall and simply grouted the tile directly on top of it. Motherfuckers.

Sitting in the stall prying off hard-to-fix chunks of tile was bad enough when I was just dealing with ants, roaches, and the occasional spider skittering across my body while I'm handling sharp objects near my face, but now I've discovered I've got a fairly monster termite infestation as well.

Termite Update

So after a day of research, freaking out, and running around the outside of the house to discover where the fuckers might have gotten in, I've leaned a few things:

1) The biggest reason the termites are attacking my house is because the leak in the bathtub faucet had kept that area moist for years.
