I didn't even mention last night that I caught a cat in the trap. I just seemed to boring to mention. I can't really abscond to the Greenbelt with people's cats without inspiring a Loki-dog vengeance kidnapping, irrespective of how flea-infested they might be, so I loosed it. However, as I was enjoying the sound of the mighty thunderstorm outside tonight, I heard a completely different set of odd animal noises than I'm used to.

It was pouring down rain, and I was naked and freshly showered, so I wasn't exactly enchanted by the idea of tromping out into the rain to confront whatever local wildlife my ironically swimming sardines had netted me...

After some judicious flashlight work, I was finally able to find the cage right outside my bedroom window, and inside it, staring back at me with a "Boy am I not impressed" expression of bedraggled pique was a second raccoon. After my previous encounter, I can't really say I like raccoons anymore, but I *did* feel sorry for it, stuck out in cage in a mud puddle in the pouring rain.

After a brief survey of available improvised rain covers, I was able to locate half of a large pet carrier that would protect most of the cage. I scampered outside, bare but for my brown umbrella, and waded over. If it had been a possum or a cat, I might have been able to move the cage somewhere dryer, but since the last raccoon worked overtime to make proximity to the cage handle unfriendly to happy hands, I elected to simply throw on the cover and leave his (or her) ass there for the night. Tomorrow we can head off to the Greenbelt (or maybe somewhere further away? Could this be the same fucking 'coon?) and do our little anxiety dance of freedom.

I think I may sleep in the living room. All those scraping noises near my bed are creeping me out.

All fleas on the bottom of the raccoon should be dead by morning. :)

No pictures this time? I think the not but a brown umbrella look could be so cute. :) Poor little raccoon... then again I've never had to tangle with one. I'm sure I might feel differently if I had.
