Trip hop is probably the most well-rounded for this purpose; I highly recommend Esthero.

Date: 2011-06-08 07:03 pm (UTC)For scene music, I love E.S. Posthumous. It's gotten to the point that whenever we hear that music, Master wants to beat me. Very Pavlovian!
Their album, "Unearthed", is my favorite. There's not a bad song on there.
This one is the one that I can't listen to while driving, lest I court a speeding ticket: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GusLypfx7OQ
Their other album that I have is "Makara" and following are my two favorites from that album.
This one isn't on my scene music list, but it is on my frequent repeat list: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7uVfNpQDb4A
This is my other favorite off "Makara". I'm sure you'll recognize the tune: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AQYUl83iZec&feature=related
BTW, some of their stuff may sound familiar because a lot of companies who cut together movie previews use their music.
