Chose to continue the christening of my new projector with "Requiem for a Dream." At 2 AM. While I was hungry. I knew the basic plot, but wasn't fully prepared. Normally this is exactly the kind of movie that has me skipping in the streets, but I guess now wasn't a good time. Feeling pretty blasted at the moment. Almost but not quite too tripped out to make myself a salad.

Damn.

Probably not a date movie.

Thank God for puppies!

I'd also like to mention...

...how profoundly grateful I am that *I* wasn't one drugs while seeing the film.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

That movie is brilliant, but yes, quite heavy.
I was especially blown away by the portrayal of the mother's addiction to the weight loss (speed) pills. It was almost worse than the heroin addiction of the other characters.
I would totally have Darren Aronofsky's babies.

That was a REALLY dark movie. As far as Aronofsky goes, I'll take Pi or The Fountain, thanks.

Aronofsky is my hero. I love his movies.

I definitely thought...

...Requiem for a Dream was a great movie, but it was too much of a downer for me to ever want to see again. I'm normally into dark movies, and generally hate the standard happy-ending formula, but RfoD was so almost totally devoid of anything positive it was more draining than Schindler's List.

Definitely liked Pi more. :)
