According to the nurse that did my exam at PP this year, PP does not test for herpes because it is useless to do so unless you have an actual outbreak. 90% of adults have been exposed to herpes, but only 25% actually have genital herpes, and there's no test that can tell the difference between the two. Have you heard any different?
