I just got back from having a great time visiting gailmom at her home in Bryan. I got a chance to meet her kids, then spend two very distracting days and nights learning new things and having a *lot* of fun. We also visisted Sweet Eugenes, an old college hangout of mine, which had unfortunately lost The Funk at some point between then and now. I had been there once during and once since the new expansion, and although very high reported Christian Fundamentalist constituency was somewhat over-exaggerated (only heard one quiet, sincere conversation about the Power of Christ) it is definitely no longer the Nexus of Escape it once was from the inherent conservatism of College Station. However, on a brief visit to todfox and eposia's neck of the woods, I was introduced to Revolution, which has definitely picked up the torch. It's funky, alternative, slightly-off-the-beaten path vibe and Keep Music Evil atmosphere definitely merit further investigation.
