As I've been getting back into yoga over the past few days, I've also been doing sitting meditation as part of the practice. After trying to empty some of the rock-hard ground corn-cob out of my home-made meditation pillow, I discovered it had been colonized by fuzzy brown mildew. While I've had some pretty good times with fungus, I'd really prefer to keep my altered states separate until I consciously *decide* to combine them. So into the trash the old pillow went, and I trucked out to Goodwill to get a new one.

Anyone know where you can get buckwheat hulls in Austin for a reasonable cost? Michael's doesn't seem to carry them, and Hobby Lobby was closed today.

I just started doing Dynamic Yoga from this book. It bought it years ago at Half-Price Books, then almost returned it before digging it out again at the last minute. It took me a little while to get on the author's wavelength, especially about the ordering of the postures, but now it's very clear. I've only done three postures so far, but the author does a very good job of laying out and emphasizing the foundation principles and I've been working to incorporate those into my practice.

So far the only thing that I found strange was the assertion that one goal is to basically eliminate muscle tone, which seems counter to most other forms of exercise I've heard about. The stated theory is that complete relaxation is impossible with toned muscles, since they are never actually at rest. It makes me wonder if that makes yoga somewhat incompatible with other forms exercise that tend to improve muscle tone.

Loki is clearly way ahead of me.
