Steps to Success This Evening:

NOTE: Those uninterested in using their Macintoshes to write VBScript programs that probe for non-existent hardware on a version of Windows XP claustrophobically trapped in a window may wish to look elsewhere for entertainment.

1) Rig home Windows XP PC for Remote Desktop Access so I can work on my VBScript project for work using my Macintosh from, say, Epoch.


2) Test remote control from home before driving all the way to Epoch and being unable to work.

It works.

3) Go to Epoch. Connect to PC at home.

Success!

4) Try to put PC onto work VPN network, just for fun.

Where'd my connection go? Fuck!

5) Fuck around trying to somehow re-connect to home PC, and/or disable it's VPN connection.

Fuck, fuck, FUCK!

6) Pause. Sit. Pee.

7) Run Virtual PC (a program that magically/Satanically actually runs Windows XP on your non-Intel Macintosh in a little window) to see if it's somehow (creepily) possible to actually write VBScript code using only my Macintosh.

8) Find out it works.

9) Cower in fear and confusion.

10) Continue to write VBScript program to query my non-existent virtual Windows XP system running on the RadioMac about the characteristics of it's non-existent hardware parallel port.

I would also need to update my XP image, which I haven't done in over a year.

I meant "work I do for money."

Actually, I handle my own investing on the side, but that's another story.

I do developer support for a major chip manufacturer.
