I ate a fucking *sandwich*!

It's the first fucking sandwich I've had in six months! I made it with soda bread I baked myself, *and* tomatoes from my own garden!

Now that The Heat is over, my tomatoes have been going crazy. In about a week, I'll reach that Critical Tomato Point where it becomes time to start foisting tomatoes on unsuspecting friends and neighbors.

I would love any green ones. People have been asking me to make them fried green tomatoes...

If I have green ones left over when the frost comes, I know where to go.

Yay for fucking sandwiches! I need to post pics of the wheat/flour free seed bread I dehydrated yesterday, heh.

Recipe for soda bread?

Soda bread -- this has no wheat in it?? For real??

*Doh*!

It has wheat, just no yeast. Gluten doesn't seem to bother me.

There's definitely gluten-free bread available in town. Living Arts bakery at the farmer's markets usually has some.

Wow. I have no idea if yeast is a thing for me. I have never run that experiment! Gluten doesn't bother me itself, just unsprouted wheat. I eat a lot of sprouted-wheat bible bread, and it never bothers me -- but I didn't think to try a no-yeast thing!

I've gotten some stuff called Mana Bread from Wheatsville, that's sprouted. It's kind of fruit-cake-textured, but it's better than nothing. I often use it to sop up the leftover oil from caprise salads. There was a guy with the Design-Build-Live organization here in Austin who found a way to create an oven for making sprouted wheat loves that ran off a single 30-watt bulb. It was really neat.

Like Ezekiel bread? The only thing that bothers me about it is that it's _gross_. Toasted and smeared with some sort of butter analog it's fine, but I tried it once raw in a sandwich and was very unhappy. :-( And pity, since I'm supposed to only eat whole grains and love bread...

I like it a lot, actually -- "regular" bread is too soft & fine and kind of grosses me out now. Hahaha! Thinking about it makes me want to get more avocados and make sandwiches, actually... But I have wondered a lot about the variety (or lack thereof) of bread that I could get my hands on that DIDN'T leave me hurting, so finding new bread-like things is kind of fun. ^_^

We make raisin bread french toast out of the Ezekiel with raisins and it's deeeliiiiishuuus!!

I can tolerate the sesame variety, toasted the living hell out of and smeared in f'butter.

Avocado sandwiches, really? What do you put on an avocado sandwich?

See, I looooove the bad for you wonderful delicious squishy white bread, but I rarely let myself eat it. I think most whole-grain breads are kinda ucky so I end up just not really eating bread if I'm behaving myself diet-wise (meaning only whole grain starches and no processed crap). Whole wheat pastas and brown rice I'm down with.

Omg, conversation making me hungry. Ezekiel bread, avocado, sprouts, tomato... I would put some spinach or kale or something... more avocado, more sprouts... I think salt and pepper and then I'd mix up olive oil and garlic and apple cider vinegar with a bunch of spices and make a dressingy thing to soak into the bread on the inside. OMG. I need to go to the grocery store.

On the other hand, Kiki's bread in the comment above does appear to be wheat-free.

Foist on me! My tomato plants finally gave up the ghost almost 2 months ago. :(
