Cupping!

I just got done trying cupping for the first time with [livejournal.com profile] spottedvasa and it worked! We had one initial misfire due to too big a wad of cotton, but after that everything went fine. I had seen several live demos of the technique before, and tried it on myself first with the gear I had. I'd like to get some slightly thicker cups, and I saw a nice set at White Crane today that might be worth the investment.

But only if people wanted to try it...

I *love* cupping!

We got our cups at Target, I think. They are the small-medium votive cups. They work very nicely!

I'm feeling relaxed just thinking about cups on my back...

I love cupping...then again, I love almost anything having to do with FIRE.

~tentatively raises her hand in the air~

I've been wanting to try it...just afraid of the, you know, fire. But since you can spin fire in my face and I smile instead of fainting....this has possibilities.

I'm told it's very good for fibro sufferers. Hence the desire to get past the "omg, fire!" reaction and give it a shot. :P

Mmmm...fire! I haven't been allowed to try cupping yet, but that's because I can't have lasting marks that I might have to explain to the kids and the "Mommy got attacked by a crazed octopus at a party last night" story only works once. LOL

But I do love fire! It is so relaxing. I'm dying to try wax one of these days.

*wanders off to think about warm, burning things*

the thrill may be in the little bits of things on fire, but Thax has found that all one needs to do is heat the air inside the cup with an aim-n-flame for a few moments and then put the cup down on the skin, et viola! suction! & no fiddly bits.

It is fun. And one of the reasons I want my Tent Room back is because the cupping goodies are in there :)

I've only done it once so far, so I'm no expert, but materials are cheap and readily available. Even if you wanted "real" cupping cups, instead of, say, votive holders or shot glasses, you can get them at White Crane (now right behind Central Market South) for like $3-5 each. I'm thinking about buying one or two just to see if they feel different. Other than than all you need is a lighter, cotton, leather, and some alcohol. Some people evidently don't even use the alcohol-soaked cotton, they just heat up the air inside the cup. Some coconut oil to put on the skin to make sliding easier seems to help, too.
